Hindi Essay on ‘Meerabai’
English Essay on ‘Meerabai’
The great Hindi poet ‘Mirabai’ was born in the year 1498 in Merta (Kudki) village, Rajasthan. His father’s name was Ratan Singh and his mother’s name was Veer Kumari. Meera was married to Maharana Bhojraj of Udaipur, who was the son of Maharaja Sanga of Mewar.
Meerabai’s husband died shortly after the marriage. After the death of her husband, an attempt was made to do sati with her husband, but she was not ready for it. The last rites of Meera’s husband took place in Chittor in Meera’s absence.
Mirabai started taking interest in Krishna Bhakti since childhood. After the death of her husband, she became estranged and started spending her time doing hari kirtana in the company of sages. His devotion increased day by day. Meera used to go to temples and dance in front of the idol of Krishna.
Mirabai was strongly opposed by the royal family for dancing and singing in devotional service to Krishna. Disturbed by the behavior of the family members, she went to Dwarka and Vrindavan. People used to give her love and respect like a goddess. It was a time of great political upheaval. But in the midst of all the circumstances, Meera’s devotion remained self-respecting.
Mirabai has composed the sphut verses of Krishna devotion. She was an exclusive devotee of Krishna. He composed four texts- Barsi Ka Myra, Geet Govind Tika, Raga Govind, Raga Sorath Ke Pad. Apart from this, a compilation of Mirabai’s songs has been done in the book “Mirabai’s Padavali”.
Meerabai has been considered a separate and important place among the devotees of Shri Krishna. In the medieval period (Bhaktikaal) of Indian history, Mirabai’s name will always be remembered as a special talent who adorned devotion and poetry with the exclusive pain of love and the exclusive pain of separation.
