छठ पूजा हिन्दुओ के प्रमुख त्योहारों में से एक है। सामान्यतः यह त्योहार बिहार, झारखण्ड, पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश में मुख्य रूप से मनाया जाता है। इसके अलावा छठ पूजा विदेशों में भी धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है।
इस त्योहार में भगवान सूर्य और छठ माता की आराधना की जाती है। यह प्रसिद्ध त्योहार हिन्दू कैलेंडर के अनुसार कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष के पष्ठी को मनाया जाता है। इस त्योहार को महिलाए खासतौर से मानती है। इस पूजा में छठ माता की अराधना और सूर्य को अर्घ देने का विशेष महत्व है।
छठ चार दिनों तक चलने वाला त्योहार है। इसकी शुरुआत नहाय- खाय से होती है। इस दिन गंगा के पवित्र जल से स्नान कर के खाना बनाया जाता है। इस दिन चने की दाल, लौकी की सब्ज़ी और रोटी का सेवन किया जाता है।
नहाय- खाय के बाद खाने में नमक का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता है। दूसरे दिन को खरना के नाम से जाना जाता है। खरना के दिन व्रत करने वाले लोग प्रसाद बनाते है। खरना के प्रसाद में खीर बनाई जाती है।
इस खीर में चीनी की जगह गुड़ का प्रयोग किया जाता है। शाम को पूजा के बाद इस प्रसाद को ग्रहण करते है। प्रसाद खाने के बाद निर्जला व्रत शुरू होता है। तीसरे दिन नदी किनारे छठ माता की पूजा की जाती है।
पूजा के बाद डूबते हुए सूर्य को गाय के दूध और जल से अर्घ दिया जाता है। इसके साथ ही छठ का विशेष प्रसाद ठेकुआ और फल चढ़ाया जाता है। इस त्योहार के आखिरी दिन सूर्य के उगते ही सभी के चेहरे खिल उठते है।
व्रत करने वाले पुरुष और महिलाओ के द्वारा उगते हुए सूर्य को अर्घ दिया जाता है। सूर्य को अर्घ देने के बाद व्रत करने वाले लोग प्रसाद खा कर अपना व्रत खोलते हैं। इसके बाद सभी लोगों में प्रसाद बांट कर पूजा संपन्न की जाती है।
छठ का व्रत किसी कठिन तपस्या से कम नहीं हैं। छठ पर्व पति और संतान की दीर्घायु के लिए किया जाता है। मान्यताओं के अनुसार सच्चे मन से छठ व्रत करने पर सारी मनोकामनांए पूरी होती हैं।
ऐसी मान्यता है की छठ पर्व पर व्रत रखने वाली महिलाओ को पुत्र की प्राप्ति होती है। महिलाओ के साथ पुरुष भी अपने कार्य की सफलता और मनचाहे फल की प्राप्ति के लिए इस व्रत को पूरी निष्ठा और श्रद्धा से करते है।
Essay on Chhath Puja in English
Chhath Puja is one of the major festivals of Hindus. Generally, this festival is mainly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, Chhath Puja is also celebrated with great pomp in foreign countries.
Lord Surya and Chhath Mata are worshiped in this festival. This famous festival is celebrated on the Pashti of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month according to the Hindu calendar. Women especially consider this festival. Worshiping Chhath Mata and offering Argha to the Sun has special significance in this worship.
Chhath is a four-day long festival. It starts with a bath. On this day, food is prepared after bathing in the holy water of the Ganges. Chana dal, gourd vegetables, and roti are consumed on this day.
After taking a bath, salt is not used in the food. The second day is known as Kharna. People who observe fast on the day of Kharna make Prasad. Kheer is made in the offerings of Kharna.
Jaggery is used instead of sugar in this kheer. After worship in the evening, this prasad is accepted. Nirjala fast begins after eating the Prasad. Chhath Mata is worshiped on the third day on the banks of the river.
After worship, the setting sun is offered Argha with cow’s milk and water. Along with this, special prasad of Chhath Thekua and fruits are offered. On the last day of this festival, everyone’s face blossoms as soon as the sun rises.
Argha is offered to the rising sun by the men and women who observe the fast. After offering Argha to the Sun, the fasting people break their fast by eating prasad. After this, the puja is completed by distributing prasad among all the people.
Chhath fasting is not less than any hard penance. Chhath festival is celebrated for the longevity of husband and children. According to the beliefs, if you observe Chhath fast with a sincere heart, all your wishes are fulfilled.
It is believed that women who observe fast at Chhath festival get a son. Along with women, men also observe this fast with full devotion and reverence for the success of their work and to get the desired results.
