जल सभी जीवों के लिए प्राथमिका आवश्यकता है। मनुष्य और अन्य सभी जानवर पानी के बिना एक दिन भी जीवित नहीं रह सकते। पौधों को बढ़ने और जीवित रहने के लिए भी पानी की आवश्यकता होती है।

पानी का उपयोग हमारे कपड़ो और बर्तनों को साफ करने, फसलों की खेती करने, खाघ पदार्थों को पकाने और अन्य कई गतिविधियों में किया जाता है। पृथ्वी का लगभग तीन- चौथाई हिस्सा पानी है लेकिन यह सारा पानी उपयोग के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं है। कारखाने और बिजलीघर भी विभिन्न प्रक्रियाओं के लिए बहुत अधिक पानी का उपयोग करते हैं।

जल एक प्राकृतिक संसाधन है जिसकी पृथ्वी पर एक निश्चित मात्रा होती है। यह जल चक्र में गति करता रहता है और वर्षा के रूप में हमारे पास वापस आता रहता है। दुर्भाग्य से, जब हम पानी का उपयोग करते हैं, तो हम इसे प्रदूषित करते हैं।

हमारी नदियां प्रदूषित हैं, भूजल दूषित है। अगर ऐसा ही चलता रहा तो हमारे पास पीने के लिए पर्याप्त साफ पानी नहीं होगा। सबसे अच्छा तरीका है बारिश के पानी का संरक्षण करना जो काफी शुद्ध है।

इसके लिए वर्षा जल संचयन एक आसान तरीका है। साथ ही, हमें इस बात का भी ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि हमारे जल-संसाधनों, विशेषकर नदियों को नहाने, धोने और उनमें मलजल डालने से प्रदूषित न हो।

Water is essential to life, we need water for drinking and washing. Humans and all other animals cannot survive even a day without water. Plants also need water to grow and survive.
It is used for the irrigation of crops and buildings. About three-fourth of the earth is water but all this water is not suitable for use. Factories and power stations also use a lot of water for the various processes.

Water is a natural resource that has a fixed quantity on the Earth. It keeps on moving in the water cycle and coming to us back in the form of rain. Unfortunately, When we use water, we pollute it.

Our rivers are polluted, the groundwater is contaminated. If it continues, we may not have enough clean drinking water. The best way is to conserve the rainwater which is quite pure.

For this, rainwater harvesting is an easy way. Also, we should take care not to pollute our water- resources, particularly the rivers, by bathing, washing, and by dumping sewage water into them.
