महिलाओ के द्वारा पति के कल्याण के लिए रखे जाने वाले पर्व ‘करवा चौथ’ की भी अपनी एक कहानी है, जिसे स्त्रियाँ कथा के रूप में व्रत के दिन सुनती है वैसे तो करवा चौथ की कई कहानिया है परन्तु सबका मूल एक ही है।

कहा जाता है की करवा चौथ के दिन व्रत कथा का पढ़ा जाना काफी महत्त्व रखता है यह प्रथा सदियों से चली आ रही है और सभी वैवाहित महिला इसका पूर्ण रूप से पालन करती है।

यह त्यौहार कार्तिक माह में कृष्ण पक्ष की चतुर्थी को मनाया जाता है। करवा चौथ पुरे उत्तर भारत में बड़े ही हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है। करवा चौथ के दिन सुहागिन महिलाये व्रत रखती है।

और रात को चन्द्रमा के दर्शन करके ही व्रत तोड़ती है। करवा का अर्थ मिट्टी का बर्तन और चौथ का अर्थ चतुर्थी तिथि होता है। करवा चौथ के दिन सुहागन महिला करवे का खास विधि- विधान से पूजन करती है।

पति की दीर्घायु और मंगल कामना हेतु सुहागिन महिलाए इस दिन व्रत रखती है। कार्तिक मास की कृष्ण चतुर्थी को करवा चौथ का व्रत रखा जाता है। करवा चौथ का व्रत कुंआरी लड़किया भी रखती है और अच्छा पति मिलने की कामना करती है।

इस दिन महिलाए सुबह चार बजे उठ कर मीठी सेवई खा लेते है और फिर पुरे दिन कुछ नहीं खाते। पूजा के लिए महिलाए अच्छे से तैयार हो जाती है। व्रत पर शादीशुदा स्त्रिया चन्द्रमा की पूजा करती है।

पूजा की सामग्री में सिंदूर, कंघी, शीशा, चूड़ी, मेहँदी आदि दान में दिया जाता है।

व्रत तोड़ने के दौरान भारतीय नारी अपने पति के पास होती है। वह पहले चाँद को छलनी में से देखती है और चन्द्रमा को जल अर्पण करती है। उसके बाद अपने पति को उसी छलनी से देखती है।

पति की आरती उतारकर, सदा सुहागिन का आशीर्वाद लेती है। पति अपनी पत्नी को पानी पिलाकर उसका उपवास तोड़ता है।

करवा चौथ के चलते बाजारों में महिलाओ की बहुत भीड़ दिखाई पड़ती है। महिलाए नए कपडो को खरीदती है। यह पर्व रिश्तो को मजबूत बनाने वाला होता है जिस कारण यह पति- पत्नी दोनों के लिए ख़ास महत्व रखता है।

This festival is celebrated on the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. Karva Chauth is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over North India. On the day of Karva Chauth, married women keep a fast.

And breaks the fast only after seeing the moon at night. Karva means earthen pot and Chauth means Chaturthi Tithi. On the day of Karva Chauth, a married woman worships Karve with special rituals.

For the long life and good wishes of the husband, married women keep a fast on this day. Karva Chauth fast is observed on Krishna Chaturthi of Kartik month. Even unmarried girls keep the fast of Karva Chauth and wish to get a good husband.

On this day, women wake up at four o’clock in the morning and eat sweet vermicelli and then do not eat anything for the whole day. Women get well prepared for worship.

Married women worship the moon on the fast. In the material of worship, vermilion, comb, mirror, bangle, henna, etc. are donated.

The Indian woman is with her husband during the breaking of the fast. She first looks at the moon through a sieve and offers water to the moon. After that, she looks at her husband through the same sieve.

After taking off her husband’s aarti, she always takes the blessings of the married woman. The husband breaks his fast by giving water to his wife.

Due to Karva Chauth, there is a huge crowd of women in the markets. Women buy new clothes. This festival is supposed to strengthen the relationship, due to which it holds special importance for both husband and wife.
